The work of preparing teachers for K-12 schools is multi-faceted, and includes building teacher candidates' knowledge, their skills, and their understanding of the role of the teacher. To support this development, BC TNE has initiated several programs that guide candidates in developing their content and pedagogical knowledge and skills.
In keeping with the TNE design principles, BC has made changes to the curricular offerings for teacher candidates and for students in the Arts & Sciences who might be interested in learning about teaching. BC TNE built on existing resources and connected faculty across departments and schools. We have also designed mentoring programs to support teacher candidates in their student teaching.
